Thu, June 20, 2019
The stunning illustrations of PJ Lynch will be presented in a new exhibition at Flowerfield Arts Centre from Friday 5th July.
The ‘Pilgrims, Princesses and Beardy Old Men’ exhibition will feature illustrations from one of the world’s bestselling books ‘The Christmas Miracle of Jonathan Toomey’ as well as classics such as ‘A Christmas Carol’ by Charles Dickens and the recently published ‘The Boy who fell off the Mayflower.’
There will also be the opportunity to see PJ’s charcoal drawings for ‘Once Upon a Place’, a new anthology of stories by Irish writers compiled by Eoin Colfer.
Born in Belfast in 1962, PJ attended Brighton College of Art where he was taught by Raymond Briggs, creator of the ‘Snowman.’ PJ was honoured to be Laureate na nÓg (Ireland’s laureate for children’s literature) between 2016 and 2018 and has won many awards including the Kate Greenaway Medal on two occasions.
Combining his original artwork with the power of story, this exhibition will enchant young and old alike.
The launch event will begin at 7pm on Friday 5th July and everyone is welcome to attend.
Alongside the exhibition, PJ will provide a free talk on Friday 19th July from 2.30pm. He will also hold free ‘Special Story Days’ and ‘Kids Do Drawing’ events on Saturday 13th and 17th July at 11am.
The exhibition will continue until Tuesday 27th August.
