‘Halloween Happenings’ took place in towns across the Borough this October where residents and visitors in Causeway Coast and Glens were treated to some frightfully fun activities.

Fancy dress parades, Halloween dance offs, creepy stilt walkers, flaming fire poi and the segway vampire added to the music and entertainment at each town. There was something for all the family to enjoy this Halloween. Did you put your best mask on, try to guess the creepy crawlies or were you brave enough to face the ‘Wall of Terror’?

The Spooktacular fun events started on Saturday 26 October in Ballymoney. The fancy dress parade from Castlecroft Square kicked off the event with many families dressing up in their scariest costumes. Ballymoney Showgrounds was where the action was with CJ Entertainments ramping up the dance off followed by live music from The Groovesmen. Kids loved the Zombie Dance Hall, Wall of Terror, slime workshops, monster soft clay, trick or treat and decorating apples. The event came to an end with an amazing fireworks display.

Limavady had their turn next on Monday 28 October to get their creep on! The crowd enjoyed carnival games, a zombie nerf shootout experience and fantastic glow in the dark slime workshops with Eurekaseekers. Many tried their hand at the ‘Wall of Terror’ not knowing what they were touching! The spooky trail was a big hit with the crowds, did you dare to enter?

Halloween Happenings then arrived in Ballycastle on Tuesday 29th October with its amazing annual parade, filled with the Base Ballycastle group who also worked hard to decorate a Ghost float. The crowds enjoyed the fancy-dress competition, carnival games, and a unique Halloween photobooth. The DJ had all the favorites playing and there were some frighteningly good dancers! The fireworks went off over the harbour and lit up the skies in Ballycastle.

The final Halloween Happenings took place in Coleraine at Ulster University Campus on Halloween night. There were scarily entertaining activities including a slime making workshop, chocolate apple making and a trick or treat experience which had all the kids busy creating and having fun. The ‘Wall of Terror’ sorted out the brave from the feared, did you try to guess what was in it? Or did you brave the spooky trail and its terrifying characters who evoked many a scream on the night? Fairground amusements also proved to be extremely popular, you could hear the squeals of delight from those spinning around. Live music from Cellar Door entertained the crowd prior to the fantastic fireworks display to conclude this year’s Halloween celebrations.

Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, Councillor Ciarán McQuillan, said: “This year’s Halloween celebrations saw record numbers turn out to enjoy the four fabulous events staged across the Borough.”

“There was something for all ages to enjoy; from fancy dress parades and children’s activities, to live music and the spectacular fireworks displays.”
