A Season of Arts and Creativity at Roe Valley, Flowerfield and Across Causeway Coast and Glens

Causeway Coast and Glens Arts Service has launched its September–December 2026 Arts Guide, bringing together an exciting programme of live performance, exhibitions, creative workshops, family activities, film and community projects at Roe Valley Arts and Cultural Centre, Limavady, Flowerfield Arts Centre, Portstewart and across the Borough.

From acclaimed musicians and theatre to festive favourites, inspiring exhibitions and hands-on creative opportunities, the new season offers something for audiences of all ages and interests.

FLOWERFIELD ARTS CENTRE

Flowerfield Arts Centre has a vibrant programme of live music, theatre, film, exhibitions and creative learning this autumn and winter.

The season opens with Cloud Flocks & Herds, a new exhibition by award-winning artist Helen Merrigan Colfer, curated by Noelle McAlinden. Returning to Flowerfield after first exhibiting there in 2020, Colfer presents intricate ceramic sculptures exploring identity, belonging and our relationship with others and the world around us.

Music remains at the heart of the programme, with the Northern Lights Sessions bringing exceptional artists to Flowerfield’s intimate auditorium, including The Rowan Leslie Trio (11 September) and Anthony Toner in Concert (11 December). Atlantic Sessions will host two events at Flowerfield in November, including the return of Grainne Duffy and Sunday Brunch with Ralph McLean, with live music, food and great conversation.

Film fans can enjoy a varied programme including Palladium Portstewart, a new community film collective showcasing cult classics and much-loved favourites, alongside Exhibition on Screen and National Theatre Live screenings.

Families can look forward to the annual Halloween Haunted House (30 October), while Big Telly’s Christmas Bear Hospital (5 December) promises a playful and interactive festive experience.

This festive season brings the popular Flowerfield Christmas Craft Market, featuring the best of Northern Irish artists, makers and craftspeople. Opening on 14 November and continuing right through until Christmas there will also be festive family activities and a special Twilight Market during the season.

Creative learning is a key part of Flowerfield’s programme, with opportunities for children, young people and adults to explore new skills, discover different materials and get creative. From digital drawing, animation and clay to pottery, textiles, glass and printmaking, there’s plenty to inspire both budding and experienced creatives.

ROE VALLEY ARTS AND CULTURAL CENTRE

Roe Valley Arts and Cultural Centre also has a packed programme of performance, visual arts, film, family activities and creative learning.

The exhibition programme opens with Wanderlore: Seven Schools, Seven Stories of Limavady Myths and Legends, celebrating the creativity of more than 300 local primary school pupils who explored the folklore, history and legendary characters of the Limavady area with professional artists.

This is followed by Echoes by Gail Mahon and Mhairi Sutherland, exploring the historical and cultural significance of the former military trainer dome at Artikelly and featuring creative opportunities for secondary school arts students. Winter brings The Colour of Water by Limavady artist Hugh McElwee, inspired by the landscapes, coastline and changing light of the North Coast, alongside the annual Limavady Art Group exhibition.

The performance programme spans live music, theatre and comedy, with highlights including Niall McCabe (19 September), The Illegals (10 October), Ashley Campbell (30 October), Lore (20 November) and Glory Days | Bruce Springsteen tribute (14 November). Audiences can also enjoy The Unfinished Broadside (2 October) and a visit from comedian Emer Maguire (29 October).

Families can enjoy The Fisherman and the Mermaid from Banyan Theatre, while festive highlights include Limavady Drama Club’s Goldilocks and the Three Bears (2 – 5 December), a Christmas Soul Tea Dance (15 December) and a screening of The Polar Express (19 December). The year ends with a festive party night from Soda Popz (29 December).

New this season is Dúchas – A Heritage Craft Series, celebrating traditional craft techniques and the skills, stories and rituals passed through generations, including textiles, embroidery, weaving, willow and felt.

Community engagement remains at the heart of the Arts Service programme, with creative opportunities continuing both within and beyond the Arts Centres. Mums Meet and Make returns monthly at both Roe Valley and Flowerfield, offering new parents with babies under one a welcoming space to connect, relax and get creative together.

The programme also extends into communities across the Borough, with a new series of outreach activities bringing artists and creative experiences closer to local people. From photography, painting, craft and creative writing to artist residencies and family activities, opportunities will take place in locations including Ballycastle, Ballymoney and Cushendun, working alongside local schools, community organisations and other partners.

Schools and young people will also have opportunities to get involved through artist-led workshops, while the Arts Service continues to support local creative talent through its Culture, Arts & Heritage Small Grants Scheme, Creative Practitioner Bursaries and Creative Youth Bursaries, with applications opening in December.
