Wed, September 27, 2017
As Strictly Come Dancing returns to prime time television, why not kick up your heels and try a dance class at Roe Valley Arts & Cultural Centre.
Two new six-week courses start on Friday 6th October. Non-Strictly is aimed at adults while Limavady Stars is for young people aged from 9 - 12.
The Non-Strictly classes will be taught by professional dancer Janie Doherty. The fun and informal course will run from 7pm - 8pm weekly. It’s aimed at everyone from complete beginners to those with some dance experience, and will provide an opportunity to try out different dance types, learn some funky moves, meet some new people and enjoy moving to music whilst getting fit.
The ‘Limavady Stars’ course, led by Janie and professional theatre maker Louise Conaghan, will run weekly from 4.30pm-6pm. Suitable for children who have an interest in the arts, dance, drama, this brilliant course combines movement, different dance forms and lots of fun leading to a Christmas showcase performance for family and friends. No experience is necessary, other than bundles of enthusiasm.
After graduating from Ulster University in 2009 with a First Class Honours, Janie became a core ensemble member of Echo Echo Dance Theatre Company and has directed many different projects within the company.
