Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council’s Walking for All Officer, Colleen Martin, has welcomed five newly trained Walk Leaders who will help bring regular, friendly community walks to Cushendall.
The volunteers, who are members of Cushendall Development Group, successfully completed their Walk Leader training in June. They are now looking forward to encouraging local people to get outdoors, enjoy some gentle exercise and connect with others in their community.
The Cushendall ‘Walking for All’ group meets every Tuesday at 1pm and welcomes people of all abilities. The walks are free to attend and offer a relaxed and sociable way to become more active, meet new people and enjoy the local area.
‘Walking for All’ groups take place across Northern Ireland and the border counties of Ireland, with each walk led by trained volunteers who help create a welcoming and supportive environment.
The programme is led by Outscape and supported through PEACEPLUS, a programme managed by the Special EU Programmes Body.
