Christie Park in Coleraine has undergone an extensive clean-up and improvement programme, ensuring that the popular riverside space is ready for the summer months.
The park, located along the banks of the River Bann, sustained significant damage during a major storm over a year ago. While initial repairs were completed at the time, a number of more substantial works required further planning and investment to fully restore the site.
Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council’s Estates team has now completed a range of enhancement works designed to restore and improve the park, while maintaining its natural character.
These works include the upgrade of public toilet facilities, installation of replacement benches and general improvements across the site.
Noel Davoren from Council’s Estates team said: “Christie Park is a highly valued and well-used open space within the Borough.
“The storm caused considerable damage, and although temporary repairs were carried out initially, a more comprehensive programme of works was required to fully restore the park.
“We are pleased to see these improvements completed in advance of the summer period.
"The investment will enhance the experience for residents and visitors and help ensure the park remains an attractive and welcoming space for the community.”
Council encourages residents and visitors to make use of the improved facilities and enjoy the park during the summer season.
