Mon, March 07, 2016

Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council is going all out this year with the 'Coleraine Goes Country' event, which takes place over the Easter weekend.  Free for everyone to enjoy, the Country Music Festival runs from 24th to 26th of March, attracting shoppers and visitors to the town. A number of big announcements will be made over the coming weeks in the lead up to the festival, however three exclusive announcements for the event are that firstly, Downtown Country Radio is on board and playing live from Coleraine Town Centre all day on Thursday 24th March, with lots of competitions, interviews and giveaways for visitors to enjoy.

Council's second and most amazing and exclusive announcement, is that Coleraine Goes Country is pleased to welcome the Legendary Country Music singer, Susan McCann, who will be making a guest appearance on Saturday 26th of March. This will be on the outside centre stage in Coleraine Town Centre. Susan is celebrating 40 years in the music industry and this is a fantastic exclusive for the event to be able to welcome this country music icon to the town.

And if that wasn't enough to entice country music fans from near and far Translink has come 'on-board' to celebrate the unique event. To help music fans get there, the public transport company has revealed a special £2 day return fare on Ulsterbus town services.

Translink will also be helping get passengers into the country music ahead of the big weekend, by hosting a preview busking session in Coleraine Railway Station on Saturday 12th March. Talented local singing star Yasmin Walker, winner of the recent Open Mic Night will be joined by fellow competitors to provide passengers with a toe tappin' afternoon of entertainment in the station. Yasmin will also be singing her country heart out at the Causeway Speciality Market taking place that afternoon at the events space at Coleraine town hall.

This is the second year for this annual event which has been designed to support local businesses to attract shoppers and visitors to Coleraine. All events and entertainment are free with radio broadcasts going live at 9am on Thursday 24th March in Coleraine Town Centre, thanks to Downtown Country Radio.
