Communities across the Causeway Coast and Glens are coming together during March to celebrate Seachtain na Gaeilge | Irish Language Week, a vibrant international festival of Irish language and culture.
Running from 1st March through to St Patrick’s Day, 17th March, Seachtain na Gaeilge is marked by celebrations around the world – and Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council area is no exception.
Across the Borough, local organisations, arts centres, community groups and Gaelic clubs are hosting a wide range of events that invite everyone to take part - whether they are fluent Irish speakers, learners, or simply curious about the language and culture.
This year’s programme includes ceilis, live traditional music, film screenings, storytelling events, and family-friendly town centre celebrations, offering something for all ages.
Several events have already kicked off the celebrations. These included a one-day Irish language course in Cushendall on 28th February, a lively ceili for Ballycastle Primary School pupils, and an evening of storytelling and music at Limavady Hen’s Shed on 9th March.
But there is still plenty more to come, with exciting opportunities for people across the Borough to get involved and celebrate the richness of Irish language and culture through the many different events.

Lá Fhéile Pádraig – Ceol, Craic & Culture

Enjoy a lively afternoon in the town centre with music, dancing, film screenings and cultural activities celebrating Irish heritage.

Enjoy this Irish language documentary followed by a Q&A with director Paddy Hayes and live music from David Keenan.

From music and storytelling to films and family celebrations, Seachtain na Gaeilge offers a chance for everyone to experience the language and culture in a welcoming and enjoyable way.
Whether you are learning your first words in Irish, or simply want to enjoy the atmosphere, there are plenty of opportunities across the Causeway Coast and Glens to join the celebration.
