Council Announce Vauxhall International North West 200 Race Week Festival Line-Up

With the Vauxhall International North West 200 just days away the line-up for the supporting Race Week Festival has been announced by Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council. The festival is an important part of the NW200 package and offers a bumper range of events for residents and visitors from 8th-14th May.

There will be debuts from two of England’s best stunt teams as well as the welcome return of some familiar faces. The Family Motor Fest on Wednesday 11th is a free stunt show at East Strand, Portrush and for the first time features Broke FMX – three of England’s best freestyle trick riders on a high ramp featuring backflips, superman, coffin and lazyboy moves.

Also on the bill is the UK’s top street bike stunt duo, Two Brothers. In their first visit to Northern Ireland they will perform a co-ordinated routine of tyre-smoking madness.

For the first time in a few years, Co. Down’s Trialstar will bring their big rig to the seaside location and show off the local talent. The show runs from 6.30pm to 8pm and will feature mini-moto racing, children’s entertainment and food stalls.

The public will get a chance to Meet The Riders on Friday afternoon, 13th of May, in Coleraine town centre when Adrian Logan hosts a chat show with around a dozen of today’s top road racers. The riders will also be available for photographs and signings during the free event at a new time of 2pm-4pm.

The always popular outdoor concert and fireworks on Friday night will again be at The Promenade in Portstewart starting at 8.30pm. The organisers are welcoming back Matchstick Men, the Status Quo tribute band which proved so popular two years ago.

With bike exhibitions, cavalcades and back to back entertainment at the hospitality marquee - World Champion Carl Fogarty from I’m a Celebrity, Liam Beckett’s book launch, premiere of a new NW200 documentary, Miss NW200 - the week is packed with variety and action.

The Race Week Festival is just part of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council’s support of the world famous International North West 200. Download the flyer at www.visitcausewaycoastandglens.com or call tourist information on 028 7034 4723.
