Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council is calling on residents from across the Borough to help build a picture of the trees being planted in our towns, villages and rural areas.
As planting season is upon us, we are asking residents, community groups, schools, farmers, landowners and organisations to take part in a new survey to help Council understand how many native trees are being planted across Causeway Coast and Glens each year.
The initiative forms part of Council’s work under its Climate Change Action Strategy and draft Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan, which recognises the important role that trees can play in supporting biodiversity and helping to address the impacts of climate change.
By gathering information about tree planting taking place across the Borough, Council hopes to develop a clearer understanding of where and how many trees are being planted each year.
The information collected will help inform Council’s future work to support climate action, enhance biodiversity and create greener communities.
Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, Councillor Dawn Huggins said: “
“Trees are an important part of our natural environment, providing habitats for wildlife, helping to support biodiversity and contributing to our response to climate change.
“There is already a great deal of tree planting taking place across Causeway Coast and Glens, and we want to build a better picture of this work.
“Whether you are part of a community group, a school, a farm or simply have planted a tree in your garden or on your land, we would encourage you to take a few minutes to complete the survey and help us understand the scale of tree planting across the Borough.”
The survey is open to all residents across the Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council area:
