Age Without Limits Day 2026 | Wednesday 10 June

Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council is proud to support Age Without Limits Day 2026, reaffirming our commitment to tackling ageism and promoting positive ageing across the Borough.

As part of this commitment, we are highlighting our support for the Age-friendly Employer Pledge, recognising the importance of creating workplaces where people of all ages are valued, respected and empowered to thrive.

Through its Age Friendly Programme, Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council continues to work alongside partners, businesses and local communities to promote inclusion, participation and respect for older people.

Supporting the Age-friendly Employer Pledge is one practical step towards ensuring older workers feel recognised for the skills, knowledge and experience they bring to the workplace.

Councillor Tanya Stirling, Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council’s Age Friendly Champion, said: “Ageism can often go unnoticed because it is so normalised in everyday life, but the impact it has on people’s confidence, opportunities and wellbeing can be significant.

“By supporting the Age-friendly Employer Pledge, Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council is sending a clear message that older people are valued members of our workforce and communities.”

Karen Mailey, Head of Organisation Development and Human Resources, added: “As an employer, we recognise the benefits that a diverse and multi-generational workforce brings.

“Older employees contribute a wealth of experience, skills, resilience and knowledge that strengthens organisations and communities alike.

Supporting the Age-friendly Employer Pledge reflects our ongoing commitment to creating an inclusive workplace culture where staff of all ages feel supported, respected and able to develop throughout their careers. Challenging ageism is not just the right thing to do — it also helps create stronger, more innovative and more compassionate workplaces.”

Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council is encouraging local organisations, community groups and residents to get involved in Age Without Limits Day by starting conversations, challenging stereotypes and reflecting on how ageism can affect people in everyday life.

Any business or organisations interested in finding out more about the pledge, signing up, or demonstrating support for older people within the workplace and wider community can contact Stephanie Scott, Age Friendly Coordinator, by email at stephanie.scott@causewaycoastandglens.gov.uk or telephone 07542 614 665.

Together, we can help create a society where age never limits anyone’s opportunity, dignity, respect or sense of belonging.
