More than 400 competitors took part in this year’s Ballycastle Junior and Senior August Tennis Tournaments, with players travelling from across the UK to compete in more than 600 matches over two weeks.
Facilitated by Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council and refereed by Sean Moloney, the tournaments brought a fantastic buzz to Ballycastle, with the Alex McFarland Tennis Courts providing the setting for this popular annual event.
The tournaments not only provide an important platform for players to compete and develop their skills, but also bring visitors into Ballycastle during the busy summer season, contributing to the town’s vibrant atmosphere.
Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, Councillor Dawn Huggins, who attended the junior competition, said:
“It was fantastic to see the courts so busy and to meet some of the young players taking part in this year’s tournament. With competitors travelling from across the UK, the event is a wonderful showcase for the talent and enthusiasm we have within tennis.
“Events like this bring real energy to Ballycastle and give visitors another great reason to spend time in our area. Congratulations to everyone who took part, and especially to this year’s winners – I hope they’re very proud of their achievements.”

The Ballycastle August Tennis Tournaments continue to provide an opportunity for players to compete at a range of levels while showcasing Ballycastle as a destination for sport, visitors and events.
