Crime Prevention Toolkit makes good business sense

Crime prevention makes good business sense.
That’s the message from a new joint campaign by Causeway Coast and Glens Policing and Community Safety Partnership and local Police.
They are working together to provide businesses with a crime prevention toolkit.
The kit includes a good practice guide, a risk self-assessment form, a retail crime reduction guide and a business crime newsletter.
Commenting on the benefits of the initiative, the Chair of Causeway Coast and Glens Policing and Community Safety Partnership, Alderman William King said:
“Business crime is a growing concern for the PCSP and we are delighted to be working alongside the police on this initiative.
“The crime prevention toolkit provides excellent advice and guidance which we believe will be of great benefit to the local business community.
“The impact this type of crime can have, not only on local trade but also the community it is based in, cannot be underestimated. We would encourage all businesses across the borough to take advantage of all the support on offer and work with the police and PCSP to keep their business safe from criminals.”
District Commander Superintendent John Magill said: “This toolkit was developed based on conversations and advice from those who work in and run local businesses. We want to make sure they are getting the right type of support when it comes to protecting their property and staff and this provides a good starting point.”
As well as the toolkit, police also deliver a SafeShop scheme for businesses, which provides practical training for staff working in retail premises.
It outlines steps that staff can take to stop shoplifting and what they can do if they actually catch someone shoplifting in their premises. SafeShop scheme training can be booked by contacting your local Crime Prevention officer on 101.
