The Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens recently invited members of the public to participate in a Dawn Walk in aid of charities MindWise and NIKPA.

The walk took place on Saturday 10th May at 4.30am. Council would like to thank Ulster University for hosting the walk on their grounds at the Sports Pavillion in Coleraine.

Mayor Councillor Ciarán McQuillan has expressed his gratitude for those who attended the walk saying: “I would like to thank you everybody who participated in the Dawn Walk and very kindly gave donations for the charities.

“The walk helped to raise both awareness and much needed funds for local mental health charity MindWise and for NIKPA who provide support for kidney dialysis and transplant patients.

“I am delighted that during my time as Mayor, which is coming to an end every shortly, I have been able to shine a spotlight on both of these organisation and the important work they do.”

“I would also like to thank the Deputy Mayor for leading the walkers on the morning and the team at Ulster University for their support.”

The latest initiative brings the total raised so far during the Mayor’s term to over £3,000.

The group of walkers who participated crisp morning air and a fantastic sunrise as they walked around the grounds of Ulster University, led by the Deputy Mayor, Councillor Tanya Stirling.

Councillor Stirling added: “Thank you to everyone who came along and supported the Dawn Walk.

“I was pleased to join the group to raise awareness for MindWise and NIKPA and continue to support the Mayor to raise funds for these worthwhile charities.”

“The weather was very kind to us and the walk gave us a moment to reflect upon the important services the charities provide to residents in the Causeway Coast and Glens and beyond.”
