Deputy Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, Alderman Richard Brown-Stewart, led the Borough’s commemoration of VE Day at the cenotaph at Coleraine Town Hall on Friday.
VE Day, or Victory in Europe Day, marks the end of the Second World War in Europe and provides an opportunity to remember and honour all those who served and sacrificed during the conflict.
Alderman Brown-Stewart said: “I was proud, as Deputy Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, to lay a wreath at Coleraine Town Hall to mark VE Day and remember all those who served and sacrificed during the Second World War.
“As we reflect on the anniversary of Victory in Europe, we pay tribute to the courage, resilience and selflessness of a generation who endured so much to secure the freedoms we enjoy today.
“Their legacy of service and sacrifice must never be forgotten.”
