More than 250 people attended the Causeway Coast and Glens Regional Jobs Fair at Coleraine Leisure Centre on the 14th of May. At the event, 41 local employers and organisations were represented, with over 1,000 live job opportunities promoted at the event.

The event was organised by the Department for Communities Employer Services Branch, along with Causeway Coast and Glens Labour Market Partnership.

Funded by Department for Communities, Labour Market Partnerships create targeted employment action plans for Council areas, allowing for collaboration at local and regional level to support people towards and into work.

Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, Councillor Oliver McMullan commented: “With more than 1,000 opportunities available, this event demonstrates our continued commitment to supporting economic growth and helping people access meaningful employment.

“I am delighted the Labour Market Partnership is working closely with the Department for Communities (DfC) on what has been an extremely successful event.

“This is a great example of collaborative working between local and central government and in particular, I would like to thank the local employers who attended the Jobs Fair. I would also like to thank the Department for Communities Employer Services Branch who worked closely with the Labour Market Partnership to organise the very successful event.”

Speaking after the event, Labour Market Partnership Manager Marc McGerty said: “We are delighted with the success of today’s event. The range of job and career opportunities on offer has been well received by all attendees and no doubt will have a lasting impact on the local community.

“Over the past four years the labour Market Partnership has helped over 2,000 people from all across the Causeway Coast and Glens Council area to upskill and retrain, with more 1,000 local people gaining new or additional employment.

“This year we are running a range of Employment Academies across a number of sectors. We also have the Personal Learning Grant, which is up to £500 for anyone needing to undertake qualifications or training to help them progress in their career.”
