International Day of Peace celebrated in Ballycastle

The Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council has attended a World International Day of Peace gathering in Ballycastle.

The event in the Save the Children shop was organised to celebrate the growing diversity of the local community and included music, dance and food from around the world.

The Mayor, Councillor Brenda Chivers said: “I would like to thank everyone in Ballycastle for their very warm welcome to this wonderful event. The volunteers in the shop and everyone who contributed to this special occasion should be commended for their efforts.”

Each year the International Day of Peace is observed around the world on September 21st. The day is devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace, both within and among all nations and peoples.
