Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council Museum Services are delighted to announce the opening of a new exhibition at Coleraine Town Hall, USA 250: Showbusiness, Culture and the Causeway Coast!

This fascinating new display explores cultural connections that help tell the story of the USA’s long influence on the Causeway Coast, exploring its cultural impact through that quintessentially American phenomenon of Showbusiness!

This exhibition has been developed as part of Council’s USA 250 programme, celebrating 250 years of the United States of America.

It explores the rise of the silver screen and local cinemas, theatrical connections and musical influences, and celebrates local figures who made their mark in the USA!

On Friday May 15, Museum Services were delighted to be joined by members of the public, elected members and contributors at a launch event at Coleraine Town Hall.

Deputy Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, Alderman Richard Brown Stewart, who launched the exhibition, said:

“I am delighted to see such a vibrant and interesting display, celebrating the important cultural connections that have existed between the Causeway Coast and United States for generations.

“It is wonderful to learn more about the local characters who have made a splash across the pond and closer to home, and to see important local collections on display for the public to enjoy.”

The USA 250: Showbusiness, Culture and the Causeway Coast exhibition is open at Coleraine Town Hall, Tuesdays to Saturdays, 11am to 4pm (excluding bank holidays).

Admission is free, exhibition closes on Saturday 29th August 2026.
