The Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens welcomed the team at Patsy's Bar, Coleraine, to a special reception celebrating their recent success at the PubAid 2026 Community Pub Hero Awards.
The popular Coleraine bar was named Northern Ireland’s Community Fundraising Hero Award winner for 2026 at the prestigious ceremony, held at the House of Commons in Westminster, recognising its commitment to fundraising and supporting local causes.
The reception provided an opportunity to celebrate the team’s success and recognise the positive impact of their efforts in bringing people together and giving back to the community.
Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens, Cllr Dawn Huggins, said: “It was a real pleasure to welcome the Patsy’s Bar team to celebrate this fantastic achievement. Their success is a wonderful example of the community spirit that makes our Borough so special.
“Local businesses like Patsy’s Bar are about so much more than what happens behind the counter. They create connections, support worthwhile causes and bring people together. I warmly congratulate the team on this well-deserved recognition and thank them for the difference they continue to make in our local area.”
Co-owner, Colin McAfee, reflected on the award, highlighting the role played by the bar’s staff and customers in its community work.
He said: “We are a small bar in a medium sized town with a massive heart and our staff and customers are the heartbeat of this community driven local pub.”
The PubAid awards shine a spotlight on the contribution pubs make to communities across the UK, celebrating the fundraising, generosity and community connections that often extend far beyond their doors.
Patsy’s Bar’s achievement is a proud moment for Coleraine and a fitting recognition of the people, passion and community spirit at the heart of its success.
