One of the first engagements for newly appointed Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens, Councillor Dawn Huggins, was to celebrate a special milestone with one of the Borough’s centenarians, Eileen Christine Harrison, who recently marked her 100th birthday.

Christine, as she is known, is a resident of the Cottage Care Home in Coleraine. Originally from Magilligan, Christine married Robert Harrison in 1951. Robert was a foreman at Maxwell’s, while Christine stayed at home to raise their four children – three daughters and a son.

Christine’s friends and family joined her last week for a party to mark her special birthday.

Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens, Councillor Dawn Huggins, congratulated Mrs Harrison:

"I was delighted to offer my heartfelt congratulations to Christine on the wonderful occasion of her 100th birthday.

"Reaching a century of life is a truly remarkable achievement and a milestone worthy of celebration. Christine’s family have shared many wonderful memories, and it is very clear that she is a lady who has enriched the lives of her family and all those who know her.

"I wish Christine a very happy birthday and hope she enjoys this special occasion surrounded by her loved ones."

Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council extends its best wishes to Christine and her family.
