Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens, Councillor Dawn Huggins, joined service users, staff and friends of Mountfern Adult Centre at a special celebration last week to mark its 50th anniversary.
Mountfern Adult Centre in Coleraine provides support and opportunities for adults with learning disabilities across the Northern Trust area.
The Centre provides a wide range of activities and opportunities, including sport and recreation, rehabilitation, day opportunities and supported and independent work placements.
Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens, Councillor Dawn Huggins said: “I was delighted to join staff and service users at Coleraine Rugby Club to celebrate this very special anniversary.
“For 50 years, Mountfern has provided invaluable support, opportunities and experiences for adults with learning disabilities across our community.
“The Centre provides a comprehensive, wraparound service, and from the smiles, friendships and camaraderie I witnessed, it was very clear just how much Mountfern means to the people who use its services.
“I would like to congratulate everyone at Mountfern on reaching this wonderful milestone and pay tribute to the staff, families and everyone who has contributed to its success over the past five decades.”
