Mayor congratulates Peace IV Sharing your Community Space participants
Fri, October 05, 2018
Participant groups in the Peace IV Sharing your Community Space programme have enjoyed a civic reception in Cloonavin.
The representatives were welcomed to the event by the Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, Councillor Brenda Chivers.
Offering her congratulations, the Mayor said: “This programme has allowed local community organisations to explore the idea of a shared space and in turn upgrade their facilities to ensure they are welcoming, accessible and open to all. I am delighted to meet the local groups here today and acknowledge the commitment and valuable service they provide to the Borough. I am aware that partnership working among particular groups is already taking place and it is tremendous to know that this is as a direct result of the Programme.
One participant of the programme said: “This project has been invaluable so far. The partnerships made, the collaborative learning opportunities and the chance to think rationally about our present situations will ensure that facilities can be upgraded to benefit everyone in the Borough. ”
Julie Welsh, Head of Community and Culture, Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council added: “This was a great opportunity to meet with community groups and listen to their thoughts on the programme so far. Council will actively support community groups throughout the process and ensure they receive guidance in developing future plans.”
