The Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens, Councillor Oliver McMullan, recently hosted a reception for the Causeway Down’s Syndrome Support Group in recognition of its ongoing work within the local community.
The Causeway Down’s Syndrome Support Group was established 30 years ago. It is a parent-led charity, built on shared experience and understanding.
From small beginnings, the group now supports over 60 families, highlighting the ongoing need for dedicated support networks locally.
Speaking at the Reception, Mayor, Councillor Oliver McMullan said: “I am delighted to welcome this group to Cloonavin.
“I recently visited the group during a music therapy session they held at Flowerfield, and it was wonderful to see first-hand the incredible work they do in supporting children, young people and their families.
“Children and adults with Down’s Syndrome are an important and valued part of our communities.
“This organisation is very close to my heart, and it was deeply moving to see the difference their programmes are making in helping children develop confidence, communication and connection.”
