Mayor to recognise hard work of volunteers in Causeway Coast and Glens

The Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council will be hosting a number of civic receptions across the Borough to celebrate the hard work of local volunteers.
Volunteers’ Week will be from the 3rd- 9th of June. Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, alongside Causeway and Limavady Volunteer Centres will take this opportunity to recognise the amazing work and contributions made by volunteers in our community.
This year marks the 40th anniversary of Volunteers’ Week and the Mayor is extending an invitation to volunteers and organisations across the Borough.
Receptions will be held on:
Monday, 3rd of June 10am in The Old Church, Cushendun
Tuesday, 4th of June 10am in Magilligan Community Centre
Wednesday 5th June 6.30pm in Bann Gallery at Cloonavin in Coleraine
Councillor Steven Callaghan, Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens said: “Volunteers are the life force of our communities across Causeway Coast and Glens. Whether it’s befriending, fundraising for charity, caring for the environment or saving lives.
“Volunteers play a crucial role in our communities and we’d like to take this opportunity to celebrate this contribution and to say thank you.
“I’d especially like to hear about any volunteers who have given 40 years or more in service of their community.”
Nominations for people who have over 40 years of volunteering should email community.development@causewaycoastandglens.gov.uk by 20th May and a member of the Community Development team will get in touch to hear the details.
Organisations have been asked to nominate up to two volunteers to attend the receptions and should register via Eventbrite by the 29th of May.
