The Mayor’s charity cycle has raised £1,630.38 for Northern Ireland Chest, Heart & Stroke, with Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens, Councillor Dawn Huggins thanking everyone who took part, volunteered and donated on the day.

The event was held last Saturday, October 17, to coincide with National Stroke Day and to raise funds for one of the Mayor’s chosen charities.

The charity has a particularly personal significance for Councillor Huggins, who lost her mother following a severe stroke.

Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens, Councillor Dawn Huggins, said:

“Having lost my mum to a severe stroke, Northern Ireland Chest, Heart & Stroke is a charity that means a great deal to me personally.

“I know from experience the devastating impact a stroke can have on families, and how important it is that people affected by stroke have access to the right support and services.

“It was a pleasure to support the charity as part of my term as Mayor and I’m grateful to everyone who took part in the event, volunteered their time and helped us raise funds for this important cause.

“Every contribution, no matter how big or small, can help make a difference to people and families affected by stroke, and I’m delighted that we were able to come together as a community to show our support.”

Northern Ireland Chest, Heart & Stroke supports people and families affected by chest, heart and stroke conditions through its care, prevention and recovery services. The charity is celebrating its 80th anniversary in 2026.
