Local group, Bushmills Through the Wars has been congratulated at a Mayor’s Reception for its outstanding community work, following the success of its 20th exhibition in July, which raised an impressive £7,000 for worthy causes.

The annual exhibition, which continues to grow in popularity, showcases an expanding collection of fascinating war related artefacts, most of which have personal connections to the village of Bushmills.

Thanks to the generosity of members of the public who donate items, the exhibition continues to uncover new stories and bring local history to life for visitors.

Funds raised this year supported research into Parkinson’s Disease, the Royal British Legion Bushmills, and also Dunluce Parish Church.

Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Cllr Dawn Huggins said:

“I am delighted to recognise the fantastic work of Bushmills Through the Wars committee members and congratulate everyone involved for raising £7,000 through their 20th exhibition held earlier this year.

“I’m from a military background and their annual display is so important so that future generations remember the sacrifices of those that have come before us all.”

The group’s continued success is a testament to the hard work of its committee members and volunteers, alongside the ongoing generosity of the public in helping preserve important pieces of history for future generations.

The Mayor added: “Bushmills Through the Wars dedication to preserving history from both world wars and their fundraising for worthy causes is truly inspiring, I look forward to continuing to support their work.”
