Roe Valley Arts & Cultural Centre is delighted to present Tend/er, a solo exhibition showcasing the works of multi-disciplinary visual artist Lorna Watkins.

The exhibition will run from 13th September until 31st October, featuring a carefully curated selection of paintings that delve into the beauty of overlooked spaces and the transient nature of the environment.

The Sligo based artist studied Printed Textile Design in NCAD and is a recipient of a Ballinglen Fellowship. In 2024, Watkins was selected for the John Richardson French Residency Award and in 2020, JOYA AiR, Spain and her works are part of several public and private collections including the Ulster Hospital and Ballinglen Arts Foundation.

Her exhibition ‘Tend/er’ features painting, printmaking and sculpture exploring ideas around the home, overlooked everyday objects, motherhood and ageing. She often references the body, as life drawing has been a constant in her practice over the past decade.

To complement the exhibition, Lorna will host a Multimedia Painting Masterclass on Saturday 1st November. This workshop will be a dynamic session for curious artists interested in developing their painting and visual arts. Experiment with layers, marks and materials in a guided exploration of contemporary painting.

We invite you to join us for the official exhibition launch on Saturday 13th September from 12noon.

Roe Valley Arts Centre welcomes visitors during regular gallery hours, Monday to Friday from 9.30am to 5pm, with extended hours on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 7pm to 9pm, and Saturdays from 10am to 1pm.

Tend/er is part of Roe Valley Arts Centre’s September - December programme, which also features a wide range of live music, comedy, theatre, creative workshops and exhibitions.
