New Arts and Events Guide launched

Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council has launched its latest Arts Guide for the spring season.  

It covers a diverse range of exhibitions, music and comical events from April to June.

The guide also features a fantastic creative learning and outreach programme with a feast of workshops, courses and projects for both children and adults.

The launch was attended by the Mayor, Alderman Maura Hickey. She said: “The Cultural Services team have put together another packed programme of events for our region. We are so fortunate to have venues such as Flowerfield Arts Centre and The Roe Valley Arts and Cultural Centre and there is a fantastic variety of events taking place in both these locations. I would encourage everyone to pick up a guide and start planning their activities for the months ahead.”

Event highlights at Flowerfield Arts Centre include blues band The Hardchargers on May 11th while Anthony Toner will entertain the crowds on May 18th when he launches his new album.

Local primary schools will be in for a treat when Replay theatre company present their play Woofle on May 26th at 11am. The contemporary craft exhibition ‘Maiden Voyage’ will run from May 6th - 27th before the annual Flowerfield Students’ exhibition takes place from June 3rd - 24th.

Events at the Roe Valley Arts & Cultural Centre in Limavady include an intimate gig in The Danny Boy auditorium from a trio of Nashville singers on May 13th.

Riverbank Productions present the magical retelling of Robert Louis Stevenson’s Treasure Island in two shows at 11am and 7pm on May 19th. Children aged 4-10 years will be whisked away on the high seas in this classic tale with pirates, swashbuckling action, treasure maps and mutiny.

Art exhibitions include the internationally acclaimed photographer Ellie Davis, whose show Half Light runs until May 13th. The dramatic environment of the Sperrin Mountains will be the inspiration for a contemporary art exhibition on display from April 28th to June 24th. Following this, a unique opportunity to view the prints of internationally renowned Louise Bourgeois will open on May 20th until June 21st.
