New NI 100 community artwork unveiled at Roe Valley Arts and Cultural Centre

A unique community artwork created by residents of Causeway Coast and Glens has been unveiled outside Roe Valley Arts and Cultural Centre in Limavady.
Called ‘Our Story in the Making’, it consists of 100 colourful ceramic tiles made by 100 individuals from across the borough.
Part of Council’s NI 100 programme of events to commemorate the centenary of Northern Ireland, the tiles were created through a workshop led by local ceramic artist Fiona Shannon earlier this year.
The Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, Councillor Richard Holmes, was among those who took part, creating a tile design inspired by a stunning sunset at Portstewart. He said: “This finished display is a wonderful celebration of our people and places through the medium of art and helps capture our shared love for Causeway Coast and Glens.
“I’m glad I had the opportunity to take part in in the project and add my tile to the artwork as a unique way of marking this significant chapter in Northern Ireland’s history.
“The artwork now stands as a permanent demonstration of our sense of community in the beautiful Drumceatt Square public space outside the Arts Centre, and it will act as a legacy for our NI 100 programme. I would like to thank all those from across the borough who participated in the project, and Fiona Shannon for sharing her expertise with us.
“The creation forms part of the ‘Our Story in the Making’ public artwork trail across Northern Ireland and we are delighted to take our place in this.”
The project was funded by the Northern Ireland Office as part of their Our Story in the Making: Northern Ireland Beyond 100 Centenary Programme.
