New Outreach Programme Brings Creativity Into Local Communities

Causeway Coast & Glens Arts Service is continuing its Outreach Programme, with a new programme of activities for September – December bringing artists, creative experiences and opportunities to take part in the arts, directly into communities across the Borough.

The programme launches alongside the September–December programme at the Borough’s two Arts Centres - Roe Valley Arts and Cultural Centre and Flowerfield Arts Centre which feature live events, exhibitions, film, family activities and creative workshops.

The outreach programme offers a varied programme of creative opportunities for different ages and interests, including photography with Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer Cathal McNaughton, painting, fused glass jewellery making with Natasha Duddy, and creative writing with award-winning writer Moyra Donaldson. Alongside these workshops, the programme will also include Halloween-themed creative activities for children bringing inspiring artists and hands-on experiences into communities across the Borough.

Activities will take place in communities including Ballycastle, Ballymoney, Cushendun and Feeny, making it easier for local people to access creative opportunities closer to home.

Also in partnership with Yarn, Ballycastle-based visual artist, Joan Alexander, conducts a week-long residency, Proof of Ghosts | The Postal Darkroom, exploring photography, absence, grief and ghost stories through making, conversation and participation. This runs from 13-19 September and full details can be found on the Yarn website.

The Outreach Programme aims to encourage participation, develop creative skills and provide welcoming opportunities for people to connect with others through arts and creativity.

There’s also continued support for local creatives and emerging talent through the Culture, Arts & Heritage Small Grants Scheme, Creative Practitioner Bursaries and Creative Youth Bursaries. These opportunities are designed to help artists, creative practitioners and young people develop their ideas, build their practice and take forward creative projects across the Borough. Applications for the next round of support will open in December.
