Good news for Portballintrae residents, harbour users and visitors, as Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council’s plans to repair and enhance the harbour slipway have moved a step closer.
Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council Elected Members have approved a recommendation to progress the Portballintrae Harbour Slipway repair project to Stage 3 of the Council’s Capital Programme, paving the way for the appointment of CivCo Ltd to carry out the works.
Stage 3 of the Capital Programme Gateway will see investment by Council of £124,711 plus VAT, with a 15% contingency, reflecting Council’s ongoing commitment to maintaining and improving infrastructure that supports local communities.
Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens, Councillor Oliver McMullan added: “The harbour slipway plays a vital role in daily harbour operations and is well used by fishermen, boat owners and visitors alike.
“These essential repairs will help ensure the slipway remains safe, functional and fit for purpose for years to come, protecting an important local asset at the heart of the village.”
Once ratified by Council, the project will move forward to delivery, and it is hoped that the works will commence in March and be completed by the start of this summer.
