The Visit Causeway Destination Team from Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council is encouraging tourism businesses interested in attracting golf visitors to Northern Ireland to attend a free Golf Product Awareness Workshop at Portstewart Golf Club on Tuesday 15 September.

The workshop will run from 11am–1pm, with registration and refreshments from 10.30am. It will provide tourism businesses with an insight into the golf visitor and market in Northern Ireland, along with practical advice on how to attract golfers and enhance their product offering.

Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough, Councillor Dawn Huggins said: “Following the huge impact of hosting The Open on our tourism industry, including an economic benefit of £43.7m to Causeway Coast and Glens, we have seen growing recognition of our Borough as a leading golfing destination.

“With our iconic links courses and challenging woodland courses, Causeway Coast and Glens has something to offer golfers from across the world, creating valuable opportunities for our tourism and hospitality businesses.

“This free workshop will provide essential information, advice and practical tips for any tourism business wishing to target the golf visitor and our expert speakers will highlight important and constructive guidance on how to best harness the potential of this market.”

Featured speakers include George Diamondis, Head of Business Solutions at Tourism Northern Ireland; Tracey Mooney, Director of Sales and Marketing at NI Golf Tours; Stephen Meldrum of Dunluce Lodge; David McLaren of Portstewart Golf Club; and Mark McGrann of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council.

The workshop is open to tourism businesses interested in attracting golf visitors, including those looking to enhance the experience they offer both on and off the course.

Topics will include the needs and expectations of North American and European golfers, the value of the golf market to Northern Ireland’s tourism industry, the legacy of The Open, how to attract and retain the luxury golfer, and practical tips for hosting golf visitors.

This workshop is suitable for both accommodation premises and The session is suitable for both accommodation providers and tourism experiences that can add value to a golfing holiday.
