Special Olympians who represented Team Ulster at the recent Special Olympics Games in Dublin have been honoured by the Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, Councillor Dawn Huggins.
Athletes from Ballymoney Rapids Special Olympics Swimming Club, Causeway Coast and Glens Bowling Club and Coleraine Cougars Special Olympics Basketball were among those who attended a special reception at Cloonavin on Tuesday evening.
The reception provided an opportunity for the Mayor to recognise the athletes, coaches and their families for their commitment, dedication and achievements in reaching the Games.
Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens, Councillor Dawn Huggins, said:
“It was a real honour to meet the athletes, their coaches and their families and to hear about their experiences representing Team Ulster at the Games in Dublin.
“Taking part in an event of this scale is a fantastic achievement and the dedication, commitment and hard work shown by the athletes and their coaches in preparation for the Games is truly commendable.
“They are wonderful ambassadors for Causeway Coast and Glens and I hope they take great pride in what they have achieved.”
