Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens, Councillor Dawn Huggins, has been out and about across the Borough this week supporting the 2026 Budget Energy SuperCupNI and seeing first-hand the positive impact the tournament continues to have on the area.
The Mayor visited Limavady to watch County Londonderry Juniors take on Chicago City and Coleraine Showgrounds to see Rangers face County Antrim, joining the hundreds of spectators who have turned out to support the young players despite the mixed weather.
Speaking during her visits, Councillor Huggins said: “The crowds this week have been fantastic despite the weather, and the atmosphere at every venue has been brilliant.
“SuperCupNI is much more than a football tournament – it brings communities together, creates lifelong memories for young players and showcases everything that makes Causeway Coast and Glens such a special place to visit.
"It has been wonderful to see families, volunteers and supporters from across the world enjoying our hospitality while cheering on the teams.
“The tournament provides a real boost for our local economy, with visitors staying in accommodation across the Borough, eating in our restaurants and cafés, shopping in our towns and exploring our spectacular coastline and attractions."
The Mayor also paid tribute to the many volunteers, organisers and local clubs whose hard work ensures the event continues to be one of the world's leading international youth football tournaments.
The 2026 Budget Energy SuperCupNI continues throughout the week, with matches taking place at venues across the Borough before the tournament reaches its conclusion with finals on Friday.
