Businesses across the local tourism industry joined Council’s Visit Causeway team for an engaging Industry Day Thursday 4th December at The Marine Hotel in Ballycastle.
The event, which featured keynote speaker and Travel Writer with the Irish Independent, Pól Ó Conghaile, included insights on the Shared Island WAW – CCR Initiative and an update on progress towards the Council’s Destination Management Strategy 2026–2036.
Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens, Councillor Oliver McMullan, who attended the event, said: “We are incredibly proud of the passion, innovation and resilience shown by our tourism industry.
“Events like this bring people together, spark new ideas and strengthen the partnerships that make the Causeway Coast and Glens such an exceptional destination.”
Sarah Travers, who hosted the event, led a panel discussion with local tourism providers Hano Windisch (FreediveNI), Wendy Gallagher (Causeway Coast Foodie Tours), Mark Rodgers (Dalriada Kingdom Tours) and Maria McAlister (Experience Development Manager, Tourism NI), giving the audience an insight into their experiences and the benefits of collaboration.
Naomi Waite, Director of Marketing at Tourism Northern Ireland, said: “Tourism NI was delighted to support the Visit Causeway Industry Day, which presented a valuable opportunity to catch up with so many of our tourism businesses and hear at first-hand how things are going.
“Our partnerships with councils are very important to us and events such as this offer us the chance to collaborate and support at grassroots level. We look forward to continuing to work with Causeway Coast & Glens”.
In addition to the packed programme, industry experts had the opportunity to showcase the support which they can offer tourism businesses, including Visit Causeway’s Destination Marketing team, Go Succeed and Tourism NI. Participants were also treated to networking sessions designed to help spark future partnerships.
Kerrie McGonigle, Destination Manager for Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, said: “We are delighted by the turnout and the enthusiasm shown by our tourism partners. Their insight and feedback directly shape our future planning.
“As we move towards delivering the Destination Management Strategy 2026–2036, days like today ensure that our industry remains connected, informed and ready to grow together.”
