ARTS SERVICE

The Arts Service manages two multi-disciplinary award-winning venues: Flowerfield Arts Centre, Portstewart and Roe Valley Arts & Cultural Centre, Limavady.

Both venues provide dynamic and varied programmes including visual arts and heritage exhibitions, live music and performance events, family theatre, film screenings, creative learning and community arts engagement activities throughout the year. The venues are also 'hubs' for many local voluntary arts and heritage groups and host hundreds of venue hire activities, from small meetings to conferences, for external organisations.

In addition to managing the two Arts Centres, the Arts Service also offers:

  • Culture, Arts & Heritage Small Grants to borough-based groups via an annual grants programme
  • Annual Creative Adult Practitioner and Youth Creative bursaries
  • Support to borough-based creatives including advice/guidance on funding and applications for support, residency/work opportunities and special initiatives such as the Creative Causeway Coast & Glens which includes the Causeway Craft Trail and the annual Flowerfield Christmas Craft Market.
  • Support and guidance to borough-based voluntary arts groups/community groups on developing arts and cultural projects and signposting to available funding
  • ArtBeat Arts & Well-being projects specifically devised to enhance individual and community well-being
  • Community arts activities including working with schools and regional agencies such as the Northern Health and Social Care Trust.

Other Cultural Venues

In addition to the venues listed, a range of other venues are used to host events. Theatre, dance, film, exhibitions, workshops and more take place in local venues such as Portnagree House and Sheskburn House in Ballycastle as well as in golf clubs, ferry terminals, shopfronts and even the great outdoors.
