General Beach Description

Waterfoot Beach is a popular tourist destination located on the Causeway Coastal Route on the eastern coast of Northern Ireland, at the foot of Glenariff Glen. Waterfoot Beach is approximately 1 km in length and comprised entirely of sand. The bathing area is backed by shallow dunes which run the length of the beach, giving way to pockets of coastal parkland facilitating walkways, picnic areas, play facilities and parking. The picturesque village of Waterfoot is located at the northern end of the beach. Additional car parking and toilets are located in the village.

Waterfoot Beach frequently attains the Seaside Award, most recently in 2024.

  • Children's play areas adjacent to beach
  • Please note – there is no Beach Lifeguard Service at this beach. The nearest beach with a seasonal RNLI Beach Lifeguards Service is Ballycastle Beach, approx. 17.5 miles to the north west.
