Causeway Coast and Glens Community Planning Partnership commence Delivery Plan Review

The Causeway Coast and Glens Community Planning Partnership have recently commenced the process of reviewing our current Delivery Plan (Nov 2022).
Members of the Community Planning Strategic Partnership, alongside action leads responsible for overseeing and coordinating the delivery of key actions, met to review progress to date.
As part of the review, members were presented with an update on the current baseline indicators. This demonstrated that overall significant progress has been made across several areas.
However, it was acknowledged that that there remains scope to further progress those areas where positive changes are evident and to provide an opportunity for all partners to strategically focus on those areas where change has not been less than positive.
Introducing the discussion, Cllr Dermot Nicholl, Chair of Causeway Coast and Glens Community Planning Partnership said: “One of the things we have appreciated over the community planning journey in Causeway Coast and Glens is the willingness of our partners and action leads to give their time to these sessions and engage and participate fully as we try to enhance community planning within the Borough.
“This Delivery Plan review comes at a key juncture, we have spent a lot of time building relationships among partners, we have learned from each other and demonstrated that we can work in partnership in a collaborative way”.
He continued: “We have 5 years until the current timeframe for the Community Plan is up. So now is a vital time to ask ourselves – how best can we ensure the vison of a better future for all is achieved, how best can we work together to ensure that we are strategically addressing the most challenging issues we currently face and how best can we work together to effectively deliver for those in the Causeway Coast and Glens Borough.”
From the discussions several key priorities emerged which included: housing - access to affordable and social homes, mental health and social isolation, addressing poverty and enabling prosperity.
In addition, areas such as business support and growth, harnessing our tourism potential and addressing low educational and skill attainment remain as key priorities for the partnership moving forward. Transport also remains a key priority for the Community Planning Partnership in Causeway.
However, there was recognition among members that like Housing, many of the aspects related to transport are the remit of central government. Yet partners have agreed to keep these issues both to the fore of the revised Delivery Plan for Community Planning, given that they are of significant priority and crosscut or interrelate with many of the other strategic priorities.
As part of the Delivery Plan review, the Community Planning Partnership are inviting members of the public to respond to a short survey to help inform the review.
