The Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council has offered his best wishes to the new Moderator of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland.

Reverend John Kirkpatrick was formally installed during the opening night of the Church’s General Assembly held last week in Belfast.

Councillor Ivor Wallace said: “Reverend Kirkpatrick has led Portrush Presbyterian Church since 1993 and he is the first from this congregation to be selected for this position. We are very proud of his links to our Borough – he was born in Limavady, attended school in Coleraine and his first congregation was Garryduff outside Ballymoney where he spent nearly six years.

“This new step is richly deserved, and I hope that God will bless him and his family as he embarks on the year ahead.”
