Ending all forms of violence, abuse, and harm against women and girls is one of the most pressing challenges facing our society today.
Violence against women and girls is a very serious challenge in our society. It is a problem that is hidden in plain sight and every day we see how it is affecting the lives of women and girls, wherever they learn, live, and work.
Strategic Framework 2024-2031
The Strategic Framework has been co-designed by a wide range of people representing different organisations and viewpoints from across society and government, community and voluntary and other sectors, including people with lived experience.
This sets the agenda for all of government and society to work together to end violence against women and girls.
Change Fund Recipients
A grant fund was opened for grassroots projects tackling violence against women and girls, and 12 local organisations were successful in securing funding to tackle the issues, as well as raise awareness and affect behavioural change. These organisations will also receive bespoke training to support community organisations in ensuring safeguarding.
Signposting and Awareness
Working with Causeway and Mid-Ulster Women's Aid, a signposting and awareness raising guide has been developed to assist in understand some of the key language and themes around ending violence.
Survey- Understanding the current position in Causeway Coast and Glens area
Eos Community Consulting CIC has been commissioned by the Council to undertake a gap analysis and best practice research on the theme of Ending Violence Against Women and Girls. The primary and secondary research is considering what initiatives are in place in Causeway Coast and Glens or are available through regional supports and services. The research will also examine best practice in the prevention of violence against women and girls and will make recommendations on programmes the Council may wish to consider implementing in the future should resources be available.
