30th Annual Art & Ulster Woodturners Exhibition opens in Ballymoney Museum.

Mon, November 14, 2016

One of the most highly anticipated events in the cultural calendar has returned to Ballymoney Museum.

The 30th Annual Art and Ulster Woodturning Exhibition was launched on Wednesday 9th November and will be open to the public until November 19th

The launch was attended by many local artists and woodturners who contributed their time and effort to this fantastic event.

Councillor Darryl Wilson also showed his support, alongside Head of Services for Community and Culture Julie Welsh and Cultural Services Manager Margaret Edgar.

The exhibition has two main displays in the museum.  In one area, it features a range of artworks by local amateur artists. It shows their varying styles and gives visitors the opportunity to see a wonderful range of watercolours, oils and acrylics.

Alongside this, award winning turners from The Irish Woodturning Guild have some of their pieces on display. The craftwork and immense detail showcase the extent of the woodturners’ talent.

The two displays complement each other perfectly and have already attracted visitors from a considerable distance.

The museum is very grateful to the team of turners who contribute their wonderful craft for display. It is their support and hard work that allow the exhibition to succeed each year.  The majority of work is for sale, so this could be the ideal opportunity to pick up the perfect Christmas gift!

Admission is free and opening hours are Monday – Thursday & Saturday 9am-5pm & Friday 9am-4.30pm.
