Applications now open for festive funding
Tue, November 01, 2016
Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council is hoping to spread some festive cheer with a special Christmas funding initiative.
The money has been set aside to assist Community Associations who want to deliver a clearly defined outdoor event to mark the lighting of a Christmas tree or other festive lighting.
One group from each settlement is invited to apply for a grant of up to £250 to organise activities in their community.
Due to a limited funding pot only ONE community group per settlement will be successful. Projects are expected to take place between 21st November 2016 and 17th December 2016.
Activities must be cross community and open to all residents.
Applications for a range of costs relating to festive entertainment such as an artist’s fee can be supported, but no alcohol costs can be included. Priority will be given to projects that promote wide community involvement.
The Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, Alderman Maura Hickey said: “I am delighted Council has been able to reserve an amount of money to help local groups celebrate Christmas. I hope community groups in our small towns, villages and hamlets take advantage of this opportunity, and help Causeway Coast and Glens Borough celebrate this festive time of year.”
The following towns are excluded from grant funding because an official festive switch on celebration will be taking place: Coleraine, Ballymoney, Ballycastle, Limavady, Portrush. Portstewart, Dungiven, Kilrea and Garvagh.
Details about the fund and how to apply are posted on the grants/funding page of Council’s website or alternatively email the Funding Unit at grants@causewaycoastandglens.gov.uk.
Applications should be made by following the links on the website to Council’s online funding hub. The closing date for receipt of applications is 12 noon on Wednesday 9th November 2016. Late applications cannot be accepted. For further information please visit Council’s website www.causewaycoastandglens.gov.uk or telephone Council on 028 7034 7034.
