Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council is holding a series of training exercises designed to support community representatives to plan more creative, effective and safer community events. Any community or voluntary representative working in the Causeway Coast and Glens Borough area with responsibility for events such as; Community Festivals, Fun Days, Arts Events, Good Relations Events and Exhibitions are welcome to register for training. Council’s aim is to inspire those who participate to develop more innovative events for their community, develop the practical skills of good event management and learn how to promote events with a variety of tools including social media. The training sessions will be delivered by three specialists working in different aspects of event management, which include; Session 1 Creative Programming - Innovative Events (Takes place from 24th November 2015 until 1st December 2015). The first step in putting together your event is the initial concept. If you get this right then everything falls into place. The workshop will be delivered by Shona McCarthy who has 25 years’ experience of delivering major cultural initiatives in Northern Ireland. Session 2 Event Management (Takes place from 11th February 2016 until 18th February 2016). This session will provide an insight and an overview of the Event Planning Process and address a number of key issues. It will be delivered by Chris Waring, owner of the company, CW Events Management and Production. Chris has extensive experience of working at a world class standard. Session 3 Social Media (Takes place from 24th February 2016 until 2nd March 2016). This session outlines the digital media tools best suited to event promotion and consider how best to partner with Bloggers to get noticed. It will be delivered by Dawn Baird who is a Partner in Sensei, a training coaching and writing consultancy that focuses communication excellence. Training will take place in a number of venues throughout the Borough in the Cushendall, Dervock, Garvagh and Greysteel areas. Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council encourage community organisations and those involved in community events to take part in this worthwhile training. Two people can be nominated from each organisation and up to five additional names can be registered on a reserve list.
