Calling All Country Music Enthusiasts in the Borough
Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council is hosting an Open Mic Night for anyone who likes to sing country music!
As part of the Coleraine Goes Country music festival, Council is giving the lucky winner of the Open Mic Night, the opportunity to sing at the main central event in Coleraine Town Centre in March.
As an additional tremendous opportunity, the winner will also receive a mentoring and recording session with Clive Culberston’s iconic ‘NO SWEAT’ studios outside Coleraine. Clive is one of the event’s judges on the evening, at the first ever Coleraine Goes Country Open Mic Night, which will be held in the Lodge hotel on Thursday 18th February.
Clive Culbertson is a successful singer songwriter who has had hit records as a solo artist and with his band The Sweat. Successes have come in Ireland, Germany and Japan. Clive has been working as an engineer and producer since his days at Emerald Recording Studios, engineering and / or producing many of the punk and powerpop bands that emerged from N. Ireland in the late 70’s. He engineered and produced a British top 20 single for a local singer in 1980.
Clive was also the bass player for the The Van Morrison Band for most of 1988 and plaid on all but one track of the hugely successful Avalon Sunset Album, which included the hit single ‘Have I Told You Lately’.
The Open Mic Night, is an opportunity for anyone from the Borough of Causeway Coast and Glens who loves to sing country music, to go forward to sing in public at an event. They will also receive their recording opportunity and a voucher for £120 from the Lodge Hotel to use in their restaurant.
So if there are any budding country artists out there, this is your one and only opportunity to become a headline act at a Country Music Festival with free PR and lots more as part of the winning package!
To put forward an entry, or to pass on to a friend or family member who may be in with a chance, go to Facebook: ColeraineGoesCountry, or Council’s webpage: www.causewaycoastandglens.gov.uk/cgc to download the application form and get it in as quickly as possible.
