Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council shows support for local foodbanks

Tue, December 18, 2018

A ‘Food Drive’ organised by Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council has helped to raise much needed donations for local food banks.

Throughout November, staff members were encouraged to donate items with collection points located across offices, depots and leisure centres.

The filled trollies have now been handed over to foodbanks in Limavady, Coleraine, Ballymoney and Ballycastle, and the items will make a real difference to vulnerable residents.

Applauding all those who supported the initiative, the Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council Councillor Brenda Chivers said: “The kindness shown by staff is particularly welcome as we approach Christmas which can be a difficult time. Tackling food poverty is a primary focus within Council and supporting the good work of the foodbanks is a proactive way for us to make a positive difference to those households who are struggling at this time.”
