Fri, May 07, 2021
Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council is lighting up Cloonavin in yellow and blue on Saturday 8th May for World Fairtrade Day.
The annual event aims to raise awareness about efforts to change trading practices to create a fair and sustainable future while celebrating the role played by Fairtrade in the fight against poverty around the world.
The Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council Alderman, Mark Fielding said: “Causeway Coast and Glens is proud to be a Fairtrade Borough and our Fairtrade Steering Group involving the wider community continues to work hard to support the Fairtrade mission.
“Following a request from the All Party Group on Fairtrade in Northern Ireland, Cloonavin, like many other landmarks and buildings around the world, will be illuminated on World Fairtrade Day as a sign of our support.
“As Mayor I am proud to help raise awareness in this way as we aim to make a real difference to peoples’ lives and the environment.”
