The Coleraine Future Town Fund (CFTF) continues to build momentum with a wide-reaching programme of community engagement designed to shape the town’s future and inform funding priorities for a transformative £20 million investment.

Since the launch of the public engagement programme in June, the CFTF Board has facilitated a diverse range of events across Coleraine, engaging with hundreds of residents, businesses, and community groups. These have included neighbourhood walkshops, business breakfasts, school workshops, market pop-ups, and targeted sessions with river users, arts and heritage organisations, and equality forums.

Why Engagement Matters

Public engagement is not just a formality—it is the foundation of the CFTF Board’s decision-making. Every conversation, survey, and workshop helps the Board understand what matters most to Coleraine’s people. This insight is essential to ensure the funding delivers real impact and reflects the community’s aspirations.

Professor Gerry McKenna, Chair of the CFTF Board, said: “This is not just about funding—it’s about vision. A vision for a Coleraine that is vibrant, connected, safe, and full of opportunity, with local communities taking back control, thriving and becoming stronger.”

Next Steps: September Community Conversation

The next major milestone is the second Community Conversation event, scheduled for Thursday, 4 September 2025, from 10:00 AM to 1:30 PM at the Northern Regional College, Coleraine. This event will provide another opportunity for residents to share their views, contribute ideas, and help shape the town’s 10-year vision and initial 4-year investment plan.
