Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council supports communities and local business owners in the run up to Christmas

Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council has agreed to ensure that all shoppers and visitors to the Borough, are provided FREE CAR PARKING in all pre-paid car parks on Sat 5th, 12th, 19th and Sun 6th, 13th, 20th December 2015.

This is an important decision to support local businesses, as well as a ‘thank you’ to shoppers in the borough for shopping local and supporting their local economy.

Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens, Councillor Michelle Knight McQuillan stated, “Council decided that this was the best way forward for us in the lead up to Christmas, ensuring that all of the towns in the new Borough were treated equally.

“It also provides shoppers with a little bit of extra added value, to help in their decision making to shop in the local towns.

“Parking can be difficult, especially when carrying lots of bags with big and bulky items.

“Having a car park which is free and nearby to the shopping areas is great and I will definitely be ensuring good use of them and shopping local this Christmas”.

From the 1st of April 2015, Council took responsibility for 37 car parks around the Borough from the Department of Regional Development (DRD), twelve of which are pay and display.

These car parks include Moyle: Ann Street, Ballycastle. Ballymoney: Castle Street; and Church Street.  Coleraine: Abbey Street; Long Commons; The Mall; Railway Place; Waterside Road, and the Waterside. Limavady: Connell Street; Central; and Main Street.

This now provides thirty seven locations around the borough, free for shoppers to park during the weekend shopping dates in December.
