Green Lane Museum, located in the picturesque Roe Valley Country Park, officially reopened its doors on Good Friday to welcome visitors for the 2026 season.

Deputy Mayor, Alderman Richard Brown Stewart attended the official opening and paid tribute to the volunteers, he said: “I am delighted to see Green Lane Museum reopen for the 2026 season. This museum plays an important role in preserving and sharing the stories of our past, particularly the traditions of agriculture and the linen industry that helped shape our community.

"I would like to commend the dedicated volunteers from Roe Valley Ancestral Researchers for their continued commitment and extend my thanks to the Irwin family for their generous donation. I encourage everyone to take the time to visit and enjoy this unique and engaging local attraction.”

Through its diverse collection of artefacts and displays, the museum explores how local people lived and worked in years gone by, with a particular focus on agriculture and the linen industry - two key pillars of the region’s historical development.

A standout addition for the 2026 season is a beautifully crafted dolls’ house, generously donated by the Irwin family. Intricately detailed and visually striking, it has quickly become a popular favourite with visitors of all ages.

Thanks to the continued dedication of volunteers from Roe Valley Ancestral Researchers (RVAR), the museum will be open on weekends and bank holidays from 11am to 3pm until the end of September. Admission is free, offering an accessible and enjoyable experience for families, local residents, and visitors alike.

Group bookings are welcome and can be arranged by contacting the Museum Team at museums@causewaycoastandglens.gov.uk or by telephone on 07565 659444.
