Illustration and sculpture exhibitions open at Roe Valley Arts & Cultural Centre
Fri, October 06, 2017
Two exhibitions featuring craft and illustration are now open at Roe Valley Arts & Cultural Centre in Limavady.
‘The Twinkling Tree’ features original artwork and prints from internationally acclaimed and award winning animation artist Corrina Askin. One of the projects which inspires the exhibition will launch on the BBC’s children’s television channel Cbeebies this autumn. Based in Belfast, Corrina has also worked for Channel 4 and The Irish Film Board. Her previous animations ‘Joe and Jack’ and ‘Castle Farm’ have screened on Channel 5 and RTE.
Presenting his first solo exhibition, Welsh sculptor Ryan Burke will display his unique, handcrafted characters all made from recycled materials. Featuring small wooden robots and crow-like sculptures, the exhibition can be enjoyed by both adults and children.
Accompanying her exhibition, Corrina will host a free talk based on her creative work on Thursday 26th October at 2pm. Although this is a free talk, places are limited and booking is necessary. Following this, she will host two workshops for children aged 11 years and over on Saturday 21st October and Saturday 28th October. The workshops, involving animation, comic book creation and storyboards, will take place from 3pm-5pm.
Both exhibitions are a fantastic addition to Roe Valley Arts and Cultural Centre’s autumn programme. They will continue until Saturday 11th November. To find out more information, please contact Roe Valley Arts and Cultural Centre on 028 7776 0650 or visit www.roevalleyarts.com
